Panel Mandate
The National Panel on First Nation Elementary and Secondary Education is leading an engagement process to develop options, including legislation, to improve elementary and secondary education for First Nation children who live on reserve. The National Panel will be engaging with:
- First Nation students, parents, elders, teachers, Chiefs and Councils;
- regional and national First Nation organizations;
- provinces;
- the private sector; and
- all Canadians.
The Panel was created by the Government of Canada and the Assembly of First Nations to improve the governance framework, improve student outcomes and clarify accountability for First Nation elementary and secondary education.
